For a non-native English speaker, the TOEFL iBT® test is required to prove English language proficiency.

A prerequisite to applying for a U.S. student visa is acceptance into a study program at an accredited American institution. That requires proof of English proficiency from a recognized and accepted English test like the TOEFL iBT®. The test is one of the accepted English language assessments by United States immigration authorities when evaluating a student visa application!

After applying, you’ll be required to:

  • travel to your nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate for a face-to-face visa interview
  • provide proof of financial support during your study in America
  • demonstrate that you have sufficient reason to return home after your studies are over
